  • As a clinical counsellor, I sincerely believe that each individual’s journey is like a unique and ever-evolving story filled with complexity, richness, and beauty. No two stories are the same, and every person carries their own narrative shaped by a lifetime of experiences. I view my role as a compassionate guide, walking alongside my clients as they navigate the winding and sometimes uncertain paths of life. Like a traveler making their way through a deep forest, every individual carries their inner light — the capacity for insight, growth, and healing. Sometimes, this light may feel dimmed by life’s difficulties or hidden beneath layers of pain, but it is always there. My purpose is to help illuminate the way forward, gently shining light on the places that may feel shadowed and offering support as clients find their footing and sense of direction. In our work together, I am committed to creating a therapeutic space that is non-judgmental, safe, warm, and nurturing. I believe that true healing begins in an environment where clients feel seen, heard, and accepted for who they are and where they are. In this space, clients are invited to rediscover and reconnect with the parts of themselves that may have been neglected or pushed aside and build healthier relationships within themselves and others. My mission is to empower clients to uncover their inner strengths, even in moments of adversity, and to help them cultivate resilience that will carry them through future challenges. Together, we will explore the patterns and beliefs that may hold them back, celebrate their progress, and work toward building a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. It is an honor to walk this path with my clients, supporting them as they begin the meaningful journey of self-discovery and transformation. As a member of marginalized communities, I am deeply committed to providing mental health services that are rooted in anti-oppressive, feminist, and social justice-oriented principles. I understand firsthand the impact that systems of oppression, discrimination, and inequality can have on mental health and well-being. This lived experience shaped my perspective and dedication to creating an inclusive, supportive, and empowering space for my clients.

  • I am passionate about empowering clients and believe deeply in fostering a non-judgmental, strength-based, client-centered, and collaborative environment. I’m committed to creating a supportive space where clients feel safe and respected. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of each individual, always working in partnership with clients to ensure they feel heard and valued. In my practice, I use trauma-informed therapy, which means I take into account the complex layers of a person’s life experiences. This includes exploring the influence of their family of origin, cultural background, upbringing, attachment style, and how intersectionality shapes their identity and challenges. I also recognize that mental health is deeply interconnected with emotional, physical, and spiritual experiences, so I take a holistic view of well-being. This belief informs my integrative approach to therapy, which I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities therapy such as mindfulness-based techniques, somatic (body-centered) approaches, Internal Family System (IFS) approach, Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and more. I am also drawn to using inner child work and expressive art techniques, which bring an experiential and creative dimension to therapy, allowing clients to connect more profoundly with their sense of self. In addition, I practice neurodivergent-informed therapy, meaning I incorporate an understanding of how neurological differences and brain chemistry can affect an individual’s experiences and behaviors. By paying attention to neuroscience and how brain chemistry interacts with mental health, I aim to create a space that supports neurodiverse individuals, helping them feel understood and empowered. Ultimately, my practice is rooted in challenging and dismantling oppressive systems and structures that may be influencing my clients’ lives, whether they are rooted in racism, sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or other forms of marginalization. I believe in addressing these systemic issues directly, recognizing how they intersect with personal experiences and mental health challenges. By working through this lens, I am here to honor my clients’; diverse identities, backgrounds, and experiences.

  • As a cisgender queer immigrant, I have personally experienced the complexities of navigating multiple cultures and the unique challenges of being a third-culture kid. Growing up in a multicultural environment, I’ve had to reconcile different cultural expectations, values, and identities, all while exploring my sexual orientation and gender role. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of what it means to exist between worlds—whether those are related to culture, language, or identity. Settling in Canada added another layer to this journey, as I’ve worked to adjust to a new country while integrating my past with my evolving sense of self. Born in Taiwan, raised in Mainland China, and with Korean heritage, my multicultural background has shaped my worldview and enriched my understanding of how culture influences our perspectives and identities. Being immersed in diverse environments has allowed me to develop a broad sense of empathy for others navigating similar intersections of identity. This personal history enables me to relate to clients who may feel like they don’t fully belong to one culture or struggle to balance various aspects of their identity. In addition to these cultural experiences, I have also faced my own mental health challenges and the profound pain of losing loved ones. These struggles have shaped me not only as an individual but also as a therapist. I have a unique perspective on the complexities of grief, loss, and emotional hardship, and I understand the feelings of isolation, confusion, and overwhelm that can accompany such difficult times. These lived experiences have made me deeply committed to offering a space of compassion and support to those I work with. Fluency in both English and Mandarin allows me to connect with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, and I am able to offer therapy in both languages. I understand the nuances and challenges that come with being from different cultural contexts, and I strive to create an inclusive, accessible space for clients who might struggle to find a therapist who truly understands their cultural experiences. My multicultural background and lived experiences inform my approach to therapy, and I am dedicated to helping clients navigate their own unique journeys of identity, belonging, and self-discovery.
